Christmas is coming in a few days, I haven’t written a Book Tag post in months, and why not celebrate the season with a Book Tag?
Good news: A Christmas Book Tag does exist—the “Joy of Christmas” Book Tag! This was created by Samantha at Novels and Nonsense (now-titled Sam’s Nonsense). The original video was posted on her channel on November 23rd, 2015.
I thought it would be fun to participate in this book tag, so here we go!
1) Anticipation: The Christmas excitement is real, what book release(s) are you most anticipating?
“Where Dreams Descend” by Janella Angeles is a book I’m interested in reading, when I get the chance. You have magicians, competition, and a mystery combined into one book, and it’s been a while since I read anything with a combination of those three elements going on at the same time. I’m interested in seeing how it turns out.
2) Christmas Songs & Carols: What book or author can you not help but sing it’s praises?
RANATA SUZUKI. I cannot get enough of her writing!
All of you who read my post for “The Longest Night” by this author probably know how much I love her writing. I really hope she writes another collection poetry in the future, because “The Longest Night” is so so good and if her debut collection was that good from the beginning, I can’t wait to see what future writing she has in store as it develops.
3) Gingerbread Houses: What book or series has wonderful world building?
This is a hard question to answer, but I’ll have to go with the “Children Of Eden” series by Joey Graceffa (all three books, but especially the first two in my opinion). The worldbuilding is the strongest part of this series, and it’s very well-fleshed out as a overall.
4) A Christmas Carol: Favorite classic or one that you want to read
I haven’t read a lot of classics, but one book I haven’t read as of the time of this post is “Pride And Prejudice” by Jane Austen. I’ve never read it before, nor have I watched any movie versions, and I want to know if it’s actually as good as I’ve heard others say it is.
5) Christmas Sweets: What book would you love to receive for Christmas?
For Christmas, I’d love to get a copy of “The Starless Sea” by Erin Morgenstern.
I previously read her book “The Night Circus.” Though I haven’t reviewed it on this blog, I do recall enjoying reading that book. It’s been a very long time since I read anything by her, so I would love to read “The Starless Sea” and see how her writing style has changed since then.
6) Candles in the Window: What book gives you that warm fuzzy feeling?
I know I’m recommending a series here, but definitely the “Kase-San” series by Hiromi Takashima. The main two protagonists here are very cute together, both aesthetically and in actual chemistry. Every time I reread the manga, I can’t help but go “awww” at reading their interactions together.
7) Christmas Trees & Decorations: What are some of your favorite book covers?
Usually I don’t pay much attention to book covers, but I particularly liked the cover of “It Devours!” by Joseph Fink and Jeffrey Cranor.
I also liked the cover of “The Longest Night” by Ranata Suzuki.
8) Christmas Joy: What are some of your favorite things about Christmas And/Or some of your favorite Christmas memories?
Some of my favourite things about Christmas? Definitely the Christmas music—hearing it is enough to give me a smile on my face during the day, no matter how cold it is.
And that’s all I have to answer for the “Joy of Christmas” Book Tag! What are your answers to the questions? Feel free to let me know in the comments down below!
